They are trying to convince themselves that it will work out. Facts are facts and Muschamp was the 4th choice or lower. I read on their board where they were trying to say that the only reason Smart picked us over them is because he is alumni. Sure thing guys. I do think Muschamp is a better hire than RichRod for them, but to try and think that he is a better hire than Smart is ridiculous. I am just thankful they took Muschamp so he isn't our D coordinator.
Muschamp is a damn clown. Paul Finebaum stated it pretty well when he stated after watching the two press conferences, Smart looks like a guy that's ready for the UGA job. Muschamp on the other hand rambled through his press conference like an idiot attacking Urban Meyer, taking a shot at UGA, and making jokes that we've all heard a thousand times before. We've seen Muschamp fail miserably at one of the best jobs in the country. We've also seen him make Auburn's defense worse, as well as hurt them with penalties due to his stupidity. I'd be ashamed to even admit Muschamp is a UGA alum.
The simple fact is they wanted Smart. They had to settle for Muschamp because nobody else wanted the job. Smart is a better coach, a better defensive coordinator, and a better recruiter. He also won't make himself look like a damn fool on the sideline.

I am just glad he will be wearing USC gear and not the G when ESPN runs their highlight reel of his meltdowns. I can't even count how many times they ran the Aub/Al 15 yard penalty he caused.
Did they offer Tom Herman the job? That would have been a much better hire than Muschamp. Then again, Herman probably turned it down even if they offered. South Carolina is a step up from Houston...but it's not a huge step. He's probably waiting on a better job.

The sources said that Herman talked to them but ended up getting a bigger contract with Houston. Herman was also the one that was "interested" in the UGA job once it came open too. From what I read, it sounds like he wants the Texas job if Strong doesn't pan out.
