I thought CMF did a better job of staying with guys on the floor tonight instead of the constant shuffling and I believe it helped our offensive flow. Thought the hook on Crump after the nice move and score was strange. Maybe one of the guys who take me to task for questioning those type moves can tell me why. JP is a tough decision for me. He made a couple big hoops in the second half and a couple nice assists, but he is really struggling with his shot and watching closely it is evident his D is not good. Did DO do something egregious? But, ME played a pretty good game. Harris looked comfortable and I believe he can give us what JP does as an all-around player soon, but with more offensive upside. I'm not so worried about finding a third scorer as many are, but feel if Harris, Crump, Diatta DO and Edwards get the minutes they should we'll be fine.
Where are the box scores?
Of more concern to me is our D. Our one on one and team fundamentals are not where they need to be. We allow way to much penetration and overreact when scrambling to recover on kickout. JJ will always struggle keeping strong guards out of the paint and JP just does not have the foot speed needed at this point. Still wish Fox would employ more zone and cxertainly would have tried one during their second half 14-3 run. Many folks never grasp that playing zone can actually be more effective vs a 3 pt shooting team, especially one that creates those shots off penetration. They were in the double bonus with about 7-8 minutes to go. I would love to have seen Fox go zone the last few minutes as we struggled once again to get stops.
Auburn is gonna really test our D with the pace they play at and ity will be imperative to limit their driving and kicking out for the threes.
