really disappointing trip overall, but at least we got to salvage one.
I thought that Locey did a nice job in the first after giving up the doubles to start the game... he settled in and pitched really well there for a little bit. Not sure what happened that last inning, that really came out of nowhere, but top to bottom he was good.
I was surprised that we threw both Kevin Smith and Aaron Schunk yesterday. Radio guys were discussing the possibility for Smith moving into the bullpen. We’ll see on that. We had a couple of guys on the staff who didn’t throw on this trip. I know we had one rain out last midweek, but I really thought we’d see every pitcher on the roster over this stretch.
We had 13 K’s as a staff yesterday. Too many walks, but the strikeouts were good.
I was happy for Mason Meadows getting the big hit. Sasser and Schunk are doing some good things at the plate too. It wasn’t a great offensive game for us, which sounds weird given that we scored 9 runs, but we left some out there too. I imagine our hitters are pretty glad to leave to low country.
We’ve got Toledo this weekend who isn’t very good... at all. Then Kennesaw State next midweek. I fully expect us to take a five game win streak into Tuscaloosa... and then let’s see what happens. I really, really don’t think we are as bad as this road trip suggested.
