Yes it’s a radical departure from 1800 years of Christian doctrine.

Has nothing to do with being liberal. Most Christians, many of whom are conservative, believe it is crap. Reason: cause it is. No one interpreted the Bible this way for 90 percent of Christianity's existence.

It’s bad theology but perfect theology isn’t a prerequisite for salvation.

My main issue with it has been its consequences.

It’s not a coincidence that as dispensationalism (which generally holds Christ’s return won’t be until the Earth is as wicked as it was in the days of Noah) rose to prominence, church attendance and church influence fell.

I was happier when I had to learn Gregorian Chant (I’m looking at you, podatus), and learn Latin to understand what was going on. And while I’m at it, kneeling and genuflecting strengthened the legs, too. Sunday was leg day back then.
