In the SEC an AD is supposed to HELP the football coach win games by providing everything needed to be successful at the highest level.

What did McGarity do since the day he arrived? He consistently fought against an indoor facility until forced into it and we're still 2 years away and spending 30 million when Bama and everybody else builds one in less than a year for 4-5 million.

And now he's determined to run off Coach Pruitt since Pruitt had the guts to call out McGarity for NOT having built the IPF already.

McGarity failed to provide extra support staff until President Moorhead forced him to do it back in January of this year.

He failed to give our assistants the kind of money the big boys have been doing for years now until he was forced into it back in January.

He failed to increase the recruiting budget up to the level of the big boys until forced into doing it back in January. And these type improvements take a couple of years to kick in and have the kind of impact they
are supposed to provide.

McGarity failed to forcefully support CMR in public while he was our HC when Richt was under heavy pressure from the hacks at the AJC like Bradley, Shultz and Towers over the past couple of years.

Those hacks have been pushing for Richt to be fired for the whole season while they support Paul Johnson at GT although GT was the pre-season favorite to win their division of the ACC yet finished 3-9.

Now we're witnessing McGaity talk about hiring a search firm which would mean we're not close to having a new coach.

We watch McGarity pull our assistants off the recruiting trail to be told the next day (presumedly by Moorhead) to get them back out there.

We see the # 1 QB in America schedule a visit to our most hated rival because McGarity ddn't have a replacement ready to be announced the minute he ran off Coach Richt.

No....Coach Richt was not the perfect coach....I mean, he only won about 75% of his games in the toughest, most cut throat conference in America....and he was universally recognized as maybe the most honest and ethical coach in a game where that is supposed to be the standard for what a coach is supposed to be like
........BUT, this is for sure....Richt was MUCH BETTER at his job than McGarity is at being athletic director.

President Moorhead needs to give himself a raise. He's doing his job and McGarity's too.

McGarity is a little weasel trying to protect his turf and ego and is not wanting what is best for the team.

I agree with the OP.
Pruitt saw the program's shortcomings and broke protocol in voicing His opinions. It should have never come to that. The people who consistently took half measures, and in the case of Our tiny IPF a 1/5 measure, will be left standing while those who suffered their heel dragging, penny pinching ways lose their positions.
I disagree in one respect. We are building the right IPF, others spent 15 million, but We're FINALLY going all in. This will be a show piece and far more useful to the over-all AD than just a hay barn with turf.

What nonsense. Richt was not competitive against the good teams. 5-21 against SEC teams with a winning record over the last seven years. Completely unable to win a dumpster fire SEC East with superior talent the last three years, not to mention getting embarrassed on the national stage once or twice a year in big games. This despite having more players drafted over the last fifteen years than anyone but LSU.

Richt had everything he needed to win. You're making excuses. Richt didn't perennially underachieve because of his staff or the lack of an indoor practice facility or McGarity. Richt is the only coach who would take a timeout coming out of a timeout.

We all will support and think highly of Richt in whatever he does and wish him well. However, Richt has nobody to blame but himself. McGarity did his job. He did what he believed to be in the best interest of UGA and not Richt. None of you have a clue what McGarity or Morehead has done or not done, and it's not the AD's job to protect Richt from his well deserved criticism. It goes with the job and his whopping 4 million dollar salary.

The fact is some of you support Richt and not UGA.

To use Your words ''what nonsense'', not all of it, of course Richt had problems preparing for the big games in recent years. We DO have a good window into the lack of support from the AD. Though it's not clear how tied McGarity's hands may or may not have been by behind the scenes players. He clearly resisted going all in with personnel and other needed improvements. Pruitt pushed for those improvements and it likely cost Him his job while the heel draggers remain.

Richt didn't continually lose big games and underachieve because of McGarity. I'm sorry, that crap doesn't fly. Nobody knows what's going on in the AD unless they're on the inside. He went all in on personnel this year. That still doesn't excuse the performance of this team. He had the coaches, he had the players. The fact the we have people trying to blame Richt's performance on McGarity is beyond ridiculous.

I have no idea what kind of AD McGarity it, but it's obvious he made a tough choice. He was going to be attacked if he kept Richt, and he was going to be attacked if he fired Richt. However, there is no doubt that this program should be doing far better than it has the last half of Richt's tenure.

Agree. First of all, the short IPF CMR signed off on and built under Adams/Damon was opened 5 mos after ADGM got here. He had NOTHING to do with it. 15 million spent and you immediately go ask for another building? Wasn't going to happen. Further, CMR won champs without it in 05 and 02. It was a matter now of keeping up with the Jones es.

I agree Pruitt may have cost everybody. It's not just ADGM, but people outside BM. But that's CMR's fault too for not managing his employees. And I'm one who loves Coach and was on the fence the last few years when everybody seemed to want him gone. Remember the SC, Fla and GT debacle last year? Everybody wanted the entire staff gone. And I'd go further to say, if ADGM didn't have discussions with CMR after those games, then he's not doing his job. And if CMR and other coaches didn't like it, so be it.

Then suddenly Pruitt plays everybody by bringing up IPF even though he knows $$ had been appropriated in Sept for the architect studies on it. Basically, trying to cover their butts on losing by blaming admin. Everybody switches and wants CMR to stay. We are a funny bunch of fans.

Of course the IPF is about keeping up, but not in the sense You might mean. When Saban brought in all of the back ground personnel He upped the game, same with having an IPF. This season was likely Our worst in having to bus and/or miss practice time. That along with recruiting and players being able to use it for workouts, etc make it essential.
Being dead last out of 14 league programs to get one speaks volumes. At least We're doing it right though. We'll have facilities to match all but Bama's and Oregon's. As far as just practical, We'll match anybody's. Bama doesn't need Roman bathes or a weight room the size of Delaware, those are recruiting tools.

Certainly does for the crowd running things pre ADGM.
