First off, congrats to Gunner and the Dawgs on showing tremendous grit! SEC Champs and nobody can ever take it away from them.
Now, everyone knows that I have long been skeptical of Gunner being “the guy”. Lots of his Rabun numbers and legend were bloated by poor competition. Also, I don’t think last night did anything to make it a forgone conclusion that he is the future for Georgia.
Having said that. I do believe this Georgia team can win a national title this year with Gunner at QB. The run game will be better because of the threat of Gunner’s legs. The defense last night was DOMINANT and I expect similar performances going forward. So I do believe with a few weeks to prepare with the 1s, Gunner can improve enough to complement those two aspects of Georgia’s squad.
Also, I HOPE that Gunner balls out and looks like the next superstar in college football. Would that make me wrong on him? Yes. Would that make me happy as a Georgia fan? Heck yeah.
From this point forward, nobody is going to be a bigger 14 fan!
If I could ask Bobo and CKS for one favor, it’d be to get 12 plenty of run with the 1s in practice. I think he’ll be hard to keep off the field in 2025. If he doesn’t play in 2025, he’ll be starting for someone else in 2026. PROTOTYPE!
