Hail

The idea that mascots depicting native american heritage was insulting never made any sense at all. My high school had a native american mascot and it brought more awareness to the plight of NA tribes and no kid that ever wore Warriors or Indians or Seminoles, etc across their chest took it as them insulting the NA culture. They felt they were honoring the culture more than anything.

The original Cleveland Indians one was a caricature, so it was a bit insulting by design IMHO. They should have just redesigned the logo, kind of like when Aunt Jemima was redesigned to look modern, before they scrapped her altogether in favor of "Pearl Milling Company."

What kind of an owner would scrap their brand because a few lib nut cases complained. The decision to do that was based on pure emotion and no logic. Not a good business decision.

Wish the Braves would go back to the screaming Indian logo from the early days...always liked it and I have seen hats with it.

“As an Irishman, I’ve always seen it as a compliment to be represented as a mascot for a high-level sports team. It symbolizes pride, strength, and resilience, qualities worth celebrating.”

If I told you that I demanded that the images of native Americans be removed, you would claim this was some jingoistic right-wing plot. Except the liberals did it.
