for a good movie about the American Revolutionary War, “The Crossing” with Jeff Daniels playing the part of George Washington, in the crossing of the Delaware River at night, and defeating the Hessians the next morning, a very crucial victory for the continental army.

Another great movie is “Gettysburg” starring Jeff Daniels as Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, a union soldier from Maine, who was an unknown up until this battle, but a hero after Gettysburg. Approximately 51,000 Americans were killed during this epic three day battle, which was the turning point of the Civil War. The third and last day of this battle was July 3, 1863, and a few months later, Abraham Lincoln gave his monumental Gettysburg address, in which he mentions a “rebirth of freedom,” referring to the 4 million African Americans who had been enslaved, but we’re now being set free by this terrible Civil War.
