I know some of our fans don't want to believe. Not committing means not being disappointed. Screw that. I like what I'm seeing, which is an improving team that looks just a little more disciplined and true to its system each game. Defense wins in this sport, too, and if you just hit your foul shots, you'll turn a number of would-be losses around. I think SC was under 50 percent at the charity stripe in this one. SC didn't impress me at all, by the way, but some of that is our doing.
It was a raucous, physical game and called by the refs as such; the crowd was howling. And these Dawgs didn't back down. Responded well to the lapses that come. When SC made a couple of consecutive threes, we reacted well. When our big guy couldn't handle the moment at the beginning of the second half, we reacted well, made the right moves. I like the fact that our bench is a strength, that we don't depend on any one or two guys. This could be a fun season.
