but I hope each player takes a week or so, gets basketball off of their mind, and comes back fresh and ready to put in the hardest work they have ever worked. If there is anything like mat drills, or JJ and Yante getting the team up at 6am every day and working out together, and driving each other, not just pickup games, but real team building...I hope they do this. I would love it if JJ asked Brandon Young's dad to host them for a week, away from the summer campus, where they did ropes courses, trust falls, Dale Carnagie, Tony Robbins or even Richard Simmons, whatever, just that they all do it together...something that has nothing to do with basketball, but everything about getting on the same page. Think whatever the 2010s version of The Junction Boys would be (I am certain you can't have them doing two-a-days in the West Texas heat over the summer anymore), but wouldn't it be great if they had a fantastic mind-set coming into their basketball workouts that they were all going to push each other harder than any have ever been pushed?
Yante...Please keep working on whatever you did to make that huge step from last year to this year. Ball-handling and stretching your shot are what needs more development.
JJ - Please find more energy and run for once! JJ, just be the leader of this team next year. Don't shy away from that responsibility.
DO - FOOTWORK! The game is getting easier, and we can see that. But your footwork needs big help. Work with Yante and Jonas every day. Go dancing. Take ballet.
ME - Shooting and FTs. And get more comfortable with static offensive sets. By far the best big on the fast break, but you look lost in the half court. Study!
Turtle - Defense shooting and passing - I don't know what you can do with your 3 minutes per game average, so I think just work on those three things and that will be good.
EW - ball handling and 3pt shooting. 95% of your off-season practice should be 3pointers. I think you can shoot close to 25,000 in the off-season (250 -day for 100 days). Get KPG to practice his 3pt D against you (see below).
KPG - Figure out why, even when you are in position, and can jump so high, that many wings hit so many 3 point shots over you. I never said any bad things about you, so this is not a diss, but seriously, everyone hits the threes you contest against them. Why you? I don't know, but maybe film study will show this...maybe it is the angles you take or that you don't jump high enough when you do challenge a 3.
HK - Monmouth-type bench hystronics. We are not above this. Remember how much fun we had when Connor Nolte was doing trick shots and even got Barkley involved in one? Be the bench leader and get better reactions for our bench, please.
Crump and Harris... Get ready to play and please do not do or say anything to get in CMF's doghouse before the season (or during the season, for that matter). This means you have to work the hardest. Every practice, every solo shooting practice the coach looks in on, go 100% and then see if you can give more.
Iduwe, Young, Oneill... Work very hard on pressing these other guys in practice every day. Don't let them slack off...if they do, make them pay and look bad. Post it on snapchat when you abuse them because they didn't try hard. Get them to hate you and not want you to ever get in the game, so that then they realize they cannot slack off. Be a pest. Then have them love you off the court because you are doing your job and pushing them.
CMF and staff... recruit, recruit, recruit.
