Carlos Slim has a monopoly on transfers of funds, telephone, and internet communication going into Mexico in the US.. There is an interesting circle that occurs. Taxpayers support Americans who lose their jobs to lower wage immigrant laborers,and also support other immigrants with welfare benefits. Most immigrants then give some of that money to Carlos Slim when they send much of their income back to Mexico. Approx $20B/yr go back to Mexico minus Slim's share. Slim also owns the NYT which has become a mouthpiece for illegal immigrant proponents.
