This is Bulldawg Ron from Brunswick, by way of Metter. I am the baby of 7, who lived on a little farm outside of Stillmore, Georgia back in 1950, and my claim to fame is that I was the only one of the bunch born in a Hospital (Candler County, Hospital with a Dr. Kennedy doing the honors). We moved to Brunswick in 1957, luckily for me, just before being old enough to crop tabacker, and pick cotton (I saw enough of that to realize it was a hard way to make a living!)
But my real question to you (although I would love to ask you a hundred or so) is about your last name of Dekle. I had an ole gal who taught me in the 1st and 2nd Grades at Stillmore Elementary by the name of Dekle. She was the toughest Teacher I would ever experience and gave me my first school whuppin' with a Bolo Paddle for not being able to read the word "down". But after a couple of hot licks from that danged paddle I spit it out real quick: "Jerry jumped down...down DOWN!!!" Just wondering if you were related to her. I saw her back 25 years ago over at a little Church in Twin City, where I think she lived. Loved your story Ken, especially the part about your wife allowing ole Munson to smoke his cigar in your house.
