I can't support today's democrats, but I'm only half a conservative. Some of my social views preclude me from being a full fledged conservative (which means half here would say that has to make me a liberal, but they are full of shit, I'm just my own man and keep my own counsel). I'm still pro-choice (but wouldn't mind it being illegal after first trimester) and while I don't like this new homonazi movement, I couldn't care less if gays get married and I don't care whether they are in the closet or out. I'm also for legalization of all narcotics and emptying non-violent drug offenders out of the prisons. It also suits me to let non-violent felons vote. Hell, I'd probably be OK with mostly open borders (they used to be) if we weren't now a welfare state and these immigrants weren't driving wages down and they weren't more lucrative to hire than American citizens because of their Obamacare exemptions and employers not having to pay all the taxes on them that they do with Americans.
None of those first ones I mentioned are my most important issues, so I vote Republican now, but I sure don't really identify with the party. I won't vote for Hillary or any democrats unless they blow the party up (and they won't), but I'll still listen to their shit every once in awhile. I think the republicans are going to be forced to be more libertarian (for lack of a better word) over time, so I'm casting my lot with them and hope they change some over the years as the older ones die off and go more towards my way of seeing things. I think the party will die anyway if they don't, but I've been wrong before. However, I'm with the hard core xenophobic conservatives on no amnesty all the way. Not really racial with me, I just don't want to subsidize them or be forced to communicate with or support them, especially if half of them don't even give a shit about assimilation, learning English etc.... I'm for the melting POT and making your own way, not the salad BOWL, government handouts and a patron/client relationship with centralized government.
IOW, I'm a freak and probably all over the ideological map, but it feels right to me. Probably should move back to South Georgia, get a trailer by a creek and attempt to start a cult. Central tenet is "do your own thing, but leave me alone and don't make me pay for your bullshit or your mistakes". Nobody paid for mine except myself and that's how it oughta be, unless your family wants to bail you out and that's their money. Blow it all for all I care.

I hear ya. I don't fit in with a party either, but I know I'm not with
the group that bows down to the king in the WH. I would never vote for Hil either. I'm still waiting on somebody I can support on the Republican side.
