How should Coach White approach this last non-conference game? And is college hoops missing an opportunity?

2 questions:

1. Last non-conference game this Saturday against Alabama A&M. They are ranked as one the very bottom teams on Ken Pom. Should be our easiest game yet. The rest of the SEC is doing the same type opponent Saturday. So if you’re Mike White, how do you approach this game? The following Saturday starts SEC play. So we only have 1 game in a two week span leading up to sec play (like the rest of the sec). Do we continue to use this game as an evaluation game and play a ton of players extended minutes or do we play our top rotation guys more minutes and get the ready for the sec opener? I’m kinda hoping we play the top 8-9 guys for about the first 30 minutes (regardless if the score gets out of hand) and then just play the bottom third of the roster the last ten minutes of the game. Just to get in a rhythm. Really only need to get more eval time on Sunny and Dylan James. Everyone else has had a pretty long look so far this season.

2. Does college hoops need to rethink scheduling over the holiday break? It used to be all about the bowl games over the holidays. But now with opt-outs and the portal, these games are pretty much meaningless scrimmages. But the holidays are a prime time sports viewing time. Should college basketball change their schedule to give us some great matchups during this time instead of all of college basketball taking pretty much a 2 week break off? (I know there are a few games on during these two weeks, but very few competitive matchups). I think so. I would love to see some great hoops matchups right now over what the football games have become (and I love football)
