I’ve never hated Auburn more than I do right now in this moment

As the National Championship Game is about to kick off, I just can’t help it.

All it took was one stupid play…

If Auburn stops Alabama on 4th and 31…FOURTH AND 31…then I, like many of you, would be in Houston right now, hours away from celebrating the historic Dawgs 3-peat.

It is inexcusable for an SEC team to not be able to stop an opponent (and their hated rival at that) for one play…on 4th and 31.

Any of the other thousand results on that one play, rather than the one absolute miracle that occurred, and Auburn is in victory formation moments later, meaning:
  1. Bama has 2 losses, rendering the SECCG moot for them. They would not have played that game with a playoff berth on the line, even a win would have kept them out.
  2. Texas loses significant ground on making the playoffs, because their win at Bama becomes less impressive, considering Bama would have just lost to a (what would have been) 7-5 Auburn team.
  3. The SECCG could have had a much different vibe, flow, and outcome with Bama not playing for a playoff spot. Georgia would have been #1 with a win, but even with a loss, the top 4 looks like this:
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Florida State
4. Georgia

I hate Auburn. I hate them forever. One freaking play, 31 freaking yards.

When I watched that play with my family, as soon as the ball was caught for a touchdown, my heart sunk into my stomach. It felt impossible, it felt unjust, and I don’t know why, but in that moment, it felt ominous. It just felt like it would somehow hurt us when it was all said and done.

Freaking losers. I’m trying to get over it. I really am.
