I bought a pistol on Gunbroker last night. Had a hell of a deal

working until about 15 minutes before the auction ended and some guy bumped me up $50. You bid in $5 increments so I had to bud 10 times to catch him and go 1$ over. Took some time to do and none of the automatic emails on the bid came until this morning. What keeps the seller from getting a buddy to come in and bid like that the last minute? I know there is a 15 minute extension at the end.

I bought my .22 pistol on there a few years back. I didn't do a bid thing though, it was a set price. Had it shipped to a buddy that had an FFL. Pretty straight forward for me.

Still bought it cheaper than a used one on there but I just got the feeling I got bushwhacked.

Then they probably just relist it and claim the other purchaser didn't pay.

It happens ALL the time on GB and Ebay. I have a buddy who buys and sells AC Cobras on Ebay. Many are well over a 100K. He has about ten people who bid them up for him. Seems pretty unethical to me. I have sold dozens of guns on GB and several hundred whatnots on Ebay. I just set the reserve at the minimum I will take, but a lot of sellers think once you get buyers bidding on an item, greed takes over.
