I guess it's official. I just don't care anymore...

I felt my interest slipping all year (granted, there was some stuff happening in my world, cancer was the least of it TBH), but last night, I didn't even watch, which would have been an impossible idea two years ago. I found myself not being interested in the video game anymore, either.

I've felt this before. But not on this level. But I loved college basketball before it was dominated by one-and-done. And I felt a lot more strongly about baseball before the Dodgers weren't playing the same game and the playoff became a crapshoot. My feelings about those sports have permanently changed, so I know that what I'm feeling about CFB, isn't just an in-the-moment thing.

It's about familiarity ultimately. CFB didn't make the necessary adjustments over time and a windfall of overcorrections made the sport feel unrecognizable in the span of a couple years. I miss it, badly, but not enough to pretend it is or ever will be remotely the same. I hate to say it, but I'll likely become a casual. One of the people I couldn't stand before. A person whose interests will fluctuate based on whimsical factors... because the fanatic in me (a lifetime of dedication) got killed off with too much, too quick.
