As the state's Football Bowl Subdivision programs host recruits during the final weekend before Wednesday's National Signing Day, the teams will zero in on what's missing from the respecitve 2015 classes.
For Florida State, there aren't a ton of holes in the current class, which is ranked No. 2 in the country by recruiting website 247Sports.com, but the Seminoles need a top-notch cornerback.
In Miami, the Hurricanes are trying to weather the storm of some offseason misconceptions about the coaching staff's job security. Despite a few recruits backing off their commitments, the Coral Gables crew is still ranked in 247Sports.com's top 20.
And locally, UCF seems to be doing just fine and is expected to finish with a flurry of athletes that will fill the needs at receiver, defensive back and linebacker. The Knights did just that on Friday with the first defensive back commitment to the class in Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas corner Rashard Causey. UCF loses all four starting defensive backs, so more will come by Wednesday.
Then there is Florida. New head coach Jim McElwain begins the initial stage of the Gators' resurrection. UF needs good news in a bad way.
Where do we start? Two things jump out. Quarterback and wide receiver. And oh yeah, the defensive line and offensive line. And what about linebackers? Or running backs? OK, so you've heard this before. UF is in desperation mode.
