when a coach leaves or gets fired. I used to buy the "poor kids" argument until NIL/transfer portal era. Now a majority of players on a team like Bama are essentially paid employees that came to or stayed at their respective schools for NIL agreements. Shouldn't the paid players share some burden of responsibility (I mean they did pick their school) and honor their NIL agreements at least until the next portal period. Or if they want to leave early, then they can pay a buyout just like coaches do. Sorry for my old man moment, but jeez. We can't say that kids are free to make money but then make special arrangements for them like they are poor helpless kids. Damn if my boss retired, my employer doesn't just rip up my contract, shed a tear for me, and tell me I'm free to negotiate with other companies.
