Army football is, and has been, an embarrassment for the vast majority of seasons since 1970. West Point is far inferior to Navy and Air Force in terms of football talent and the gap is growing more pronounced year after year.

I believe USMA should give up competing in FBS and should instead apply to join the Ivy League in FCS. Army could be highly competitive against Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, and schedule out-of-conference games against FCS military schools like VMI and The Citadel.

They were 2-10 but they made it an interesting game with Navy this year at least. I guess the only question would be what $ they would potentially lose stepping down a league? Although I don't think they really show up on TV much do they?

Westport slipped in the 60s-70s as Graduates were put on the first flight to the hottest battle fields on Earth. Many died in Vietnam. It really hurt recruiting compared to AFA and Annapolis. Still has not rebounded. Think it may be good for the Service academies to go Ivy or FCS, though Navy is doing well but may lose their coach. Kind of Crazy to leave an Academy with a federal pension with a salary several times that of the POTUS.

That's something I never thought about. So do the cheerleaders have to serve active duty too? I saw them the other day during the game and never really considered the fact that technically they were in the army.

I think the cheerleaders are from other schools that just cheer for Army/Navy/AFA on the weekends. Some may be cadets but I doubt it. My best friend went to the Merchant Marine Academy and my high school sent several kids to Westpoint and Annapolis. My parents rode me about but my commitment to UGA never wavered....

One of my roommates best friends stayed with us at Rivermill, he was a kicker for Army that did not like it so he left and enrolled at Auburn, he got called up to dress out for the UGA Auburn game for Auburn. We debated locking him in the bathroom.... HA HA

Does army have Cher leaders

Can't find the answer to that, what has changed is they are no longer all male Academies, so the cheerleaders may be cadets. I know back in the day that they came from local colleges and prepschools but that probably has changed.

Well do they dress up like a pinup girl if not army needs to change things up.

No wonder army stinks they go with tradition what that get you.

Army came dangerously close to being an FBS independent a few years ago. Look at their record since 1997:

1997: 4-7
1998: 3-8
1999: 3-8
2000: 1-10
2001: 3-8
2002: 1-11
2003: 0-13
2004: 2-9
2005: 4-7
2006: 3-9
2007: 3-9
2008: 3-9
2009: 5-7
2010: 7-6
2011: 3-9
2012: 2-10
2013: 3-9
2014: 4-8

If any FBS football program deserved to be relegated to FCS, West Point would be it. Conference money can't help Army.
