Was coming upon the end of its fiscal year with money left unspent in its “recreation” budget.

So, the US Navy bought 16,000 softballs. That was enough softballs for everyone in the navy to be playing softball at the same time with an extra softball, you know, in case the first softball accidentally went overboard or something.

I have never forgotten that little nugget of insanity, and yet now it pales in comparison to the government’s theft of our money.

Every agency does that. They should either send it back or roll it over to the next fiscal year.
