Herman showed just how quick and prepared he is by having 247 report his interest within minutes of Richt's departure going public, but there is so much smoke and so much logic to Kirby getting the job, I think He's still the choice when the dust settles.
I might be slightly more excited if it were Herman, but Kirby would make a lot of sense and I don't think He'd consider leaving for any other job other than possibly Bama's. Herman on the other hand is said to covet The University Of Texas job above all others.

One thing is for sure - there are going to be some news sources that look silly because some say this guy will be named and some say the other guy will be named.

That is on par with these things. They all want the scoop and there usually isn't a definitive answer outside the very inner circle, that is if there has even been a decision made.
It seems likely Herman making it known He's very interested gave the deciders something to ponder.

Listening to 680 this morning an Alabama fan called in with his own "inside sources". He said the Kirby announcement coming after the SEC championship game. Kirby would bring an OC with him (his friend the Oline guy?) and the strength and conditioning coach. Pruitt would be his DC or Muschamp. I know this was posted on this forum previously but I heard the same thing this morning. I would like to see us go out and get a big name that would shock everyone (and spend a fortune to get) but UGA is a business. And the safest/most cost effective pick is Smart. The angle being our defense is probably what keeps us in games for the next couple of years, he recruits GA well, alumni, and he can walk in the door with his coordinators ready to go.

If it's got to be Kirby then I hope that he keeps Pruitt and doesn't bring Muschamp.

However,I would much rather see a national search and see if we are truly a top 5 program or one that hires coordinators for it's head coach.

I agree. If we are supposedly the best job out there then let's go take a coach from another program that is a proven winner.

Smart is coming and the Disneys will stay dawgs or quit and watch champions flow to Athens

There's talk suggesting We should go after Jimbo, but I don't want a man with his lack of honesty. Culture matters, especially when a culture is already ingrained like it is in Athens.
Let's keep the best of what Richt has built, it's what makes Our program special.
