NonDawg I was looking at baseball stats and was shocked to find that this pitcher ranks 11th all-time in career WAR for pitchers. Would you have put him above

Glavine (73.9) or Smoltz (66.4)? He's quite a bit higher than both.
And he's higher than Steve Carlton (84.1) and Nolan Ryan (83.6) as well.

And he played the same amount of seasons as Steve Carlton and three less than Ryan. So it's not just due to longevity.

And longevity often times hurts you as you can have negative WAR if you aren't very good.
Example: In Albert Pujols' final six seasons he had a total of 0.3 WAR due to some seasons being negative.
