if Mateos et al (whose units have performed better the last several years), just couldn't make it work with timing and other factors (buyouts and the like). Because I just can't help but believe this choice wasn't a combination of slim pickings and great salesmanship, otherwise (with Mike helping). Searles HAS NEVER had a hard time getting a great job in spite of his lackluster results over the past 15 years. He's one of those guys who can pitch to other grown men in his profession, results be damned.
Independent of whether or not we were looking for an OL coach, Searels was one of a few big names, I never would have wanted. This is literally my least favorite UGA hire of my lifetime. Re-hiring Ramsey, Martinez, Janecek, Grantham, Rob Sale would have felt as good as I feel about this hire.
Yes, there are always external factors that play into a coach's lack of success and I have to trust Kirby (nobody has earned it more)... but it's really hard to ignore CSS's suckiness for the better part of two decades... and his weird chemistry with the players when he was here.
