There are 30 million Kurds, they are the largest ethnic group in the world without their own country.
One thing Syria, Iraq, Turkey and Iran have had in common is opposition to the Kurds' effort to gain independence. Much of what they hope to become Kurdistan is currently Caliphate territory.
Most important to Us, The Kurds like Us, which makes them the only trust worthy group in the mix.
If the regional powers could come to see The Kurds as a lesser worry and a tool in the fight against extremist, who knows ?
Granted this is all a hope, but it makes sense to Me.
