No I like the Huston coach , the best out of all of them : but he like mobile QBs and I'm not sure how our current QBs fit . So no I don't wish anything
I don't think you can go wrong with either. Yes, Herman has HC experience, but let's be honest, it's 1 year at a non P5 school. It's not like he was at Houston 5 years with an elite year in and out product.
There are pros and cons to both. But, if it is Smart he is stepping into a program where all the pieces are in place and we just need some tweaking. We aren't in a situation like VT or USC where UGA is a below .500 team and needs a complete overhaul.
Also, we know Smart is an elite recruiter and already has a footprint in our region. He could put UGA at that next level where we are bringing in 1-5 instead of 5-10 ranked classes, which if you know anything about Saban's success is key.
The bottom line is Urban and Saban are the best in the biz and whether we bring in someone cut from the same cloth as Urban (Herman) or Saban (Smart), I don't see us dropping off any more than where our program currently is.
The East is so bad with USC, UK, Vandy, Mizzou, GT, AU, + 2 cupcakes next year and beyond, we have 6-8 built in wins every year. Of course we could lose to anyone of those teams in a given year, but our talent level will be far superior than theirs and it's not going to take an elite coach to scrape 8-9 wins a year which is about where we are now anyways.
