if we make some adjustments to the lineup this week, specifically as it pertains to Tucker Maxwell.

I wouldn't mind seeing us go:

Maxwell
Cam Shepherd
Aaron Schunk
LJ Talley
Riley King

I think that doing this would allow us to "lengthen" the lineup a little bit, by getting Riley King into the 5 hole. No, King isn't a prototypical middle of the order hitter, but we really don't have that in our lineup anyway. And I think that King is a better option in that spot that Mason Meadows or the DH (who should probably just be John Cable moving forward). I still think that Cam fits better into the 2 spot than leadoff. Cam has such a great approach... he's already drawn 18 walks on the year (7 more than the next highest total)... but I think we'd see more production from him hitting second than leadoff.

I say this too because Maxwell is a junior... he's been around the block, he knows SEC pitching. He was hitting around .214 going into last weekend. If he's a freshman or inexperienced, I wouldn't want to over-react to last weekend.... And maybe I am anyway.... but I don't think that it would be a positive change. On top of that, Randon Jernigan looks like a great 9-hole hitter at this stage.

Raise your hand if you expected Tucker Maxwell and Aaron Schunk to be tied for the HR lead after the four non-conference series. Also, raise your hand if you expected Jernigan to be second on the team at stolen bases at this juncture, even after Tucker Bradley's injury.

On that note, we are 23-25 in steals this year. That's pretty awesome... and one of the CS was Cable, who probably won't be running much anyway. Looking at South Carolina, it looks as though they've allowed 11/14 stolen bases on the year. It'll be interesting to see how much we run in Columbia this weekend. A lot of this past week was, I think, that the batterys we were seeing were pretty easy to run off of.... I imagine it'll be harder to steal on South Carolina than Alabama State or Presbyterian. But still, it'll be interesting to see.
