Wasn't that his real name?Yet you have rooted for a team with a top player named Mohammed, haven't you?

Then watch the Stanley Cup Finals. Series tied 2-2, and there are some great characters in this series, in addition to quite a few class acts. Jonathen Toews for the 'Hawks, and Steven Stamkos for the Lightning, are both supremely talented, but two of the most selfless athletes you will ever see.just can't do it
I'll halfway root for the Lightning, just because they're southern and it'll piss Canadians off even more... and also because Steve Yzerman is affiliated with them, and back when he was playing was the last time I even remotely cared about hockey, Wings brawling with the Avalanche on ESPN every other week. But it's kind of hard for me to get too excited about watching a bunch of extreme foreigners with hard to pronounce names playing a sport that 99.9% of our homegrown fanbase has never and will never play. Have you ever seen a frozen pond in your life? I haven't. I also got fed up with the flukey nature of the goal scoring, just plant a guy in front of goal and hope it goes in off of him or somebody else, due to some other deflection. It just doesn't seem to be a sport conducive to one player, or even team, beating the other because of a superior skill set or tactics. Too random, too cold, too foreign, IMO.Then watch the Stanley Cup Finals. Series tied 2-2, and there are some great characters in this series, in addition to quite a few class acts. Can't help it, I'm from Chicago, and my Dad played in the Juniors. I'd like them to do a better job of explaining rules, strategy, etc, I think it would help draw a wider audience. When you really get into it, the game just looks different. A lot of the deflections are intentional, they just happen so fast, it's hard to pick up. There are a ton of American kids playing now, the Hawks have 3, Patrick Kane, Brandon Saad, and Trevor Van Riemsdyk. The funny thing is that over the last several years, you see Canadian kids come here to play in college, and American kids go to Canada for juniors.I'll halfway root for the Lightning, just because they're southern and it'll piss Canadians off even more... and also because Steve Yzerman is affiliated with them, and back when he was playing was the last time I even remotely cared about hockey, Wings brawling with the Avalanche on ESPN every other week. Also, I went to four or five Thrashers games when they were here and we never scored. Not even once.
Doesn't mean you have to root for him. Sports is more entertaining when there is a villain.just can't do it
