The key takeaway is that they were able to raise enough money ... over $270 million to fund their entre athletic department for the 9 years that they don't get any ACC TV money (they get tournament money and money from other sources).

This is interesting because I can see more schools doing this in the future. Basically setting up an athletic endowment to pay for sports. Now, I am not sure that I like that as I am not sure we have the big hitters that are willing to do the heavy lifting. But, I can see this being the way of the future. I'd bet my bottom dollar that Phil Knight will do so in his estate.
