I used to laugh when people said that Russia mounted misinformation campaigns, because I always thought “who is stupid enough to believe any of that nonsense?“ Now I know.

The worry isnt social media turning a few thoisand losers into Putin fans. Over the last yr, we have had students at elite univs, some of which were gay, chanting from the river to the sea. There has also been physical violence aimed at Jews as well as intimidation.

Dumbassery isnt limited to any political movement but I havent seen any far right wing reps or senators advocating violence in the streets or threatening specific SCOTUS justices. Maybe we should limit their speech as well.
