Best in the country, especially now that Saban is gone.
He has UGA doing what Clemson had an opportunity to do immediately following the 2018-2019 seasons
They do whatever it takes to win. I don't mean that in a negative sense, either. Kirby spent a lot of time under Saban and learned how to run a progrum. He was picky about the job he eventually took and the success they had at Alabama has translated to Georgia. They have every possible advantage outside of having Phil Knight or some crazy oil tycoon bankrolling them.
That being said, all UGA ever needed was the right coach to become a dynastic level type program. Kirby is as dirty as a porn star, but he can flat out coach. Tireless recruiter as well. He's told folks close to the program that he thinks he can beat Saban's natty record.
Their football program gets incredible results because those are the only results they're concerned with. They recruit the best players, and only keep the best of the bunch. Rinse and repeat.
Not a Kirby fan. Something about him really rubs me the wrong way. I have a to of respect for Nick Saban and found it easy to pull for Bama if it didn't impact Clemson. In hindsight, I even have an appreciation for Steve Spurrier. Don't think I'll ever come around to liking him.
Kirby Smart: best coach in the country, also not afraid to step on the opponents throat even when they’re up big.
UGA fanbase: one of the worst in country, arrogant and white trash is a horrible combo
Have despised the fanbase and team since the early 80's. They were the worst behaved fans i had ever been around.
I always thought that Vince Dooly was untouchable and did whatever he damn well pleased to do, There were never any repercussions for him from the NCAA. There were always rumors of him breaking any rule to get players.
UGa was always described as the team we would most love to beat and UofSC was the team we most hated to be beaten by.
All that said, Kirby has them at elite status now and i still can't stand them.
Team currently best in program and tapping into huge potential of Georgia hs football. Athens is a good college town, good music scene. Most graduates of UgA I’ve come across are actually good people and not bad to hang out with. All the southern Georgia swamp folks, Northern Georgia inbreeding population, and folks from crappy mid size cities like Columbus, Macon, and Augusta around the state that cheer for but did not go to UGA are usually insufferable only 3rd in sports behind LSU and Cleveland sports fans that I’ve come across. Kirby is slimy but great at running program in today’s age where sliminess is encouraged and rewarded.
Very well run program that prioritizes winning at all costs. I think Kirby would be a fun guy to play for but I don't think he's a great guy.
And finally, for those rebuking our NIL efforts:
the UGA football program's financial support takes a back seat to no one in the Nation. They may not throw money around like the Texas schools but they are "smart" in how they use those resources and Give Kirby anything that he wants or needs because he has earned the benefit of the doubt.
