It is pretty strange to watch all the instances of Moral Panic happening

That South Carolina Republican House sure are a bunch of ''liberal'' ''PC'' Inquisitors all right. Bunch of Obama lovin Commies.
We took the flag down. Now the left wants to dig up generals, remove memorials, and otherwise remove every symbol and name associated with the confederacy. Tell me how insane you think this is.

A statue on Courthouse grounds can be moved to a cemetery or par, I'm ok with that. Sandblasting Stone Mountain? It shouldn't happen and it won't happen. People like me will never be on board with defacing Stone Mountain.

Helen,
Got NOTHING to do with 'liberal'. YOU injected that. The Gay Wedding stuff, the Confederate flag
erasures, the monuments being voted out, the harvesting aborted babies parts, the immigration talk.
Look up Moral Panic and one of the symptoms is reacting way out of proportion to the topic.

I don't think it is insane. I think it is overdue! Quit worshiping a bunch of traitors. Every confederate committed treason against the United States.

You mean like Washington and the American rebels committed treason in the 1700's against the sitting government, the loyalists and their country in the first American civil war? Shall we dig up those traitors and move them as well. Particularly since Washington was a big slave owner. Can't we we quit worshiping a traitor and racist and enslaver and remove his likeness from the dollar and change the name of the state and the capitol city?

You are correct, according to British law, Washington and the founders committed high treason against the king in his realm. However, the founders were successful revolutionaries. The confederates committed treason against the United States and lost. Revolutionaries who fail are lighted down in history as traitors to the latest generation.

FWIW, Washington detested the idea of secession. Here's what he had to say about it in his Circular Letter to the States:

"That whatever measures have a tendency to dissolve the Union, or contribute to violate or lessen the Sovereign Authority, ought to be considered as hostile to the Liberty and Independency of America, and the Authors of them treated accordingly."

I wish someone with your intellect would devote a little of his attention to some of the treasonous activity going on today in Washington by our current corrupt political class.

There are always limits of conscience in what to do and to whom and how much to do for how long after a conflict or war has ended. Based on your rage against the losing side, one would expect you'd want to also remove all publicly arrogant remnants of Japan and Germany currently present in public places in this country. Would that include all their former corporate war machines' automobiles and all German and Japanese investments in our economy? And, surprise, WWII ended more recently than did the War Between the States. Lighten up or live somewhere else. Costa Rica is nice.

That was at a time secession from any one of the colonies would have probably toppled the new born United States. I think he would understand a state leaving due to to much federal intervention, such as the southern states. If he was against that he would not have separated from the UK.

Washington's words have to stand for themselves. What you, I, or anyone else "thinks" he would have done is useless speculation.

First of all, I have no rage against the confederates. I dislike some southerners' idolatry of historical figures who blatantly committed treason against their country, and I am not in favor of public monuments celebrating traitors.

Second, you are engaging in a false equivalency. There is no (as far I can tell) idolatry of Imperial Japan or the Nazi German regime here in America nor are there any public monuments commemorating their existence. If there were, I would have as much distaste for it as I do the confederate worship.

Thank you for the travel advice, but I am a loyal American and plan to stay here. If you don't like the United States, you can do as the slave-owners you worship did after the war---move to Brazil.

Thoughts based on logic and linear thinking, you should try it sometimes.
One can extrapolate what Washington was thinking when standing against The UK and apply that to the southern states with their rights being infringed upon by the federal government.

No you can't. Washington is talking about the Union of the states, and the independence of the United States of America. Washington was a FEDERALIST and he believed in the supremacy and power of the federal government. You apparently are unfamiliar with the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 and Washington's response to that rebellion. Do some reading on that and see what you find out.

I don't own slaves and have never idolized slavery or slave owners. I am certainly not averse to questioning authority or "my" government's bent at any level. My understanding of how our government is supposed to work is to not only allow us to question authority, but to change it or remove it. Your federal first and foremost approach to calming the unwashed likely comes from a military background and perspective, where control is more important/critical than freedom. So be it. I salute you for your service, but disagree with your "worship" of the state. Let us all goose step down to the pub for a couple of one taste suits all beers.

I don't worship the state. I took an oath to support and defend the US Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The Constitution makes it plain that federal law is the supreme law of the land. If you don't like the way things are in this country, then do something constructive to change it.
