I've got no confidence in in Schotty, even less in Lambert..

I am starting to wonder if Scotty's heart is really in this or is there lack of QB that low that he has to call these simple plays.

With a night's sleep I think Schotty can be solid with a QB like Eason, but he has a lifetime of emulating his very solid but very unimaginative father, that might be too deeply ingrained to ever change.

Even with the night's sleep though it's hard to ignore the fact Ramsey played well under Bobo but has been a train wreck under Schotty. Every QB Bobo had trusted his judgment and raved about his ability to communicate, those are things a coach either has or doesn't have.

The bottom line question is, can we win it all with this offensive staff ? my answer, maybe. Imagine Eason making the throws we saw Lambert make against SC consistently, plus the things his great arm allow you to add to the arsenal of plays.

I'm still in the give it time camp, I'm on board with this staff through the 2017 season, barring a collapse of course.

One more more year, if no improvements then I say cut your losses and put an ad on craigslist for a new HBC.

It won't be much better next year, either. Richt is 46-26 with 1st year QB's(Greene01,Stafford06,Cox09,Murray10,Mason14,Lambert15). He's 95-25 with returning QB's(Greene/Shockley02-05,Stafford07-08,Murray11-13). Eason will be great, but probably not year 1.

So many suggest we dump this staff and give next year a go with qbs we have since all top qbs are committed SNF eason has been clear- he wants to play for richt and moves on if he us not here. Ridiculous to suggest complete staff change right now will make us better.

Through 2017 makes a lot more sense. Next year might not give Us a complete enough picture given Eason will be a freshman, as will Pruitt's second recruiting class on defense. In 2017 We'll have an extremely talented second year QB and a very deep and talented defense with good experience.

If you base the direction of the program on a high school kid whose never played a down in college....no matter the promise...you're in trouble and on a dangerous slope. I say that with no thought on my opinion on Richt here (obviously i want him gone.) Even if I wanted him to be here forever...you don't make decisions based on a recruit coming in...not at UGA or any other program that wants to be better than half ass.

I've watched Eason play and I've watched him interviewed, I think he'll play next year and play pretty well. I think long term it's just a matter of staying healthy, he'll star in our offense. His only negative before this season was a low and slow release, he's corrected that now.

He's the best athlete in the state playing against 5-9 150lbs boys. Of course he is going to look good. Bryce Ramsey looked good too and so did all these other guys.

What about us not being able to block? He will be playing with a young offensive line. That will be the excuse next year.

It's always next year.

I think he'll play well as well, but well for a frosh. Have to be careful with expectations on him individually because first year, first time playing in front of of more than 15,000 in all likelihood, quite possibly more than 5,000. Plus, right now, Godwin has shown flashes as has Jeb, but he is going to be working with a very green WR corp (what happened? we were deep as crap just 2 years ago at WR)

What I know and it seems you don't is QBs can be fairly judged regardless of competition. Not that I buy your assertion as to his opponents, but I digress. The young man has a fantastically live arm, he also has excellent touch and accuracy. He clearly reads progressions and makes the right calls as well. I can't stand next to a 5'9'' guy and throw a 40 yard rocket on a flat trajectory..can you ?

No doubt some of the young receivers will have to step up. I think it's more about Lambert not trusting himself than anything though. I think Eason will remain calm enough to go through at least some of his progressions, that's not always the case with Lambert, and almost never with Ramsey.

I think you give him too much credit. He does throw a nice deep ball overall, but he doesn't throw a good short ball overall. He's mentally weak, at times, very mentally weak in the pocket.

How is he mentally weak ? He also has better touch than Stafford ever had at UGA. Matthew never was able to throw an accurate lofted pass with any consistency, this guy has done it since 10th grade.

He gets very fidgety, he doesn't seemingly trust his pocket at times even when its there, once he has a few incompletes it starts to be a very long streak of them, etc...In the end, comparing Stafford to Lambert is ridiculous. Stafford threw deep well, he threw short well (not as good as I expected when he came in, but still...) he threw mid routes well. #1 recruit, #1 overall pick, starter in NFL compared to a guy who won't get drafted and, in all likelihood, will never see a roster in the NFL....somewhat ludicrous to compare the two. Unfair to Lambert in certain ways, and ridiculous on surface in certain ways.

I might should be nice and pretend I believe you thought I was referring to Lambert, but come on.

You cant determine this stuff in HS. That's why they don't always pan out. Pinning your hopes on one hs player is insane. He may never play a down.

Nobody is pinning hopes on one player, but you can see arm strength, going through progressions, etc on any level, IF you can see them at all. Of course you can't predict with 100% accuracy how any player will take to the next level, that's why The NFL draft is far from perfect. Eason gets careless with his footwork at times, that has been a Stafford trait since HS, but many work that out in college.

And? Louisiana Lafayette, Southern Univ., Vandy, Missouri and SC. There's not a quality win on that list. This team could easily lose to Auburn, KY & FL. GT and Georgia Southern are more probable victories, but neither are a slam dunk by any stretch.
