john boehner to resign at the end of october

The Pope's visit was very emotional for a lot of people, not just Catholics. His message of goodness and mercy, etc. made people think. I wonder, as emotional as Boehner was (many were), he realized he could never do his job with what he had to work with and what his religion was calling him to do: service and good works to the people. All people.

Rep. Peter King spouted off about a small faction of "crazies" had taken over the Republican Party. Then said, 3/4's, 80%, 85% of Republicans support John Boehner. Furthermore, he said a small group has hijacked and is blackmailing the Party. Watch:

Boehner’s popularity had ebbed to historic lows; an August Gallup poll revealed 54 percent of Americans disliked him, with only 23 percent having a favorable impression. Even at the height of his popularity, in 2011, just after the GOP tsunami in the 2010 elections, Boehner was elected speaker, but still only garnered a 42 percent favorability rating. By April, his ratings dipped to 34 percent. The August Gallup poll found that a plurality of GOP voters disapproved of Boehner, 42 percent had an unfavorable impression while 37 percent liked him.

As most of you know, the House Of Representatives, as the original intent of the founders, is the closest elected Federal Officials to the needs, wants, and expectations of the Citizenry.

Who has hijacked the party is a large group, the silent majority not being so silent, flexing it's muscles and retaking their rightful place- A Government of the people, by the people, for the people.

Peter King's Conservative Review Liberty Score = 35%

Who exactly is the crazy here?

The lunatic fringe of the Republican Party, that's who. You'll find out for the third time in a row in November 2016.

I think King and Boehner with his "false prophets" phrase are talking things such as repealing Obamacare over 50 times, telling people/voters they will do it, when they know it couldn't be done. Supreme Court upheld it. Waste of time and money when it would be vetoed anyway and not enough votes to override the veto. But it sounds good, fools the voters when you're making campaign speeches and trying to get elected or maintain your job. That's just one example. There were many.

Like that old saying"doing the same thing over and over again with the same results......."

And the truth is.....on some legislation they may have gotten some Dem votes to help. But in 2009, suddenly it was NOT ok "to reach across party lines", something that had gone on forever in our history. No compromise. So if you had to have Dem votes, then the bill just wouldn't be brought up.

That secret meeting the day before Obama took office in 09, between McConnell, Gingrich and other present and former GOP members, to decide they would block anything, even if they agree with Dems on some legislation, to have to give up any kind of compromise or work "across the aisle", to me, showed party over country. Or big donors over country. I only say McConnell and Gingrich because both admitted the meeting took place.

Everyday life is a compromise, imo. In marriage, at work, etc. There's no reason 2 parties shouldn't work together to come up with something they can both live with for the good of the country, imo. We don't always get everything we want. That's life.

When you have a radical, ideological President violating the Constitution, or stating "Fundamental Transformation", as Obama did, it is a requirement of the opposition party to take necessary steps to stop it, imo.

But as I said, it was a futile effort that wasted time and money over 50 times in sessions of Congress and was going nowhere, as long as the President, regardless of who's president, has a pen. Now if you have the votes to override, have it. But they didn't. Wasted time, imo.

My only point on "false prophets" or "crazies".

working together , sounds good ; but it " takes two tango " . as for putting party before country, we have a right leaning country and the dems are so far left some are getting close to the commie category . i really don't think a lot of folks that voted for prez realized what he meant by " fundamental transformation " . in fact, i know several who are" sick" that they made that mistake .

I believe, most of us (country wide, not just the south) are center......some lean center left, some center right, but majority are neither as far right as some in GOP or as far left as some Dems. Just my 2 cents. If either party leaned far left or far right, even with the gerrymandering that's been done, they'd hold a majority.

Gallup seems to think it is a center to right of center country:

Plus, in 47 states conservatives out number liberals:

But I understand what you're saying.

It's been rumored that the Pope has arranged for him to serve as Vatican City's official Town Crier.
