Just heard President Trump hawking "presidential watches"

It’s gross. If the shoe were on the other foot, we would never hear the end of it. But … he’s a great businessman so it doesn’t matter.
It is disgusting but as far as I know it isnt illegal. Also, you'll find no shortage of Trump voters that are willing to criticize him when they feel he's over the line.

However, if you are going to be critical of Trump selling a legal product, I think you have to be just as disgusted by almost everyone in DC that has a little influence because influence is the biggest product sold in that town. Im fairly convinced Trump's sneakers and watches are closer to ethical than Hunter's art.

on Fox XM radio. It amazes me the things we have turned a blind eye to.
Yeah, I think the watches are the least of our issues with Trump and corruption.

I said when it was created that the Trump crypto coin was nothing more than a giant bribe/money laundering scheme.

Or you can just pony up between $1m and $5m for a meeting or dinner. I think even Putin is envious of this level of grift. And not to call you out @-lowcountrydawg, but you and many others seem to find it all funny.

We have lost our way, that’s for sure.

I don't have the energy to start a thread but meanwhile.....RFK Jr. is touting steroids, cod liver oil and vitamin A in Texas for measles. Can this man not use the words - vaccinate your children against measles?

None of this is "grift", as nobody is being cheated out of anything. It's straight-up capitalism. Clearly, there is a market for it...even if it's tacky and an obvious money grab. Do I like it, at all? Absolutely not. I find it embarrassing.

But, this also a far cry from a drug-addicted son getting a high-paying position on a Ukrainian Energy Board, a Chinese company, or selling (literal) shit art...all while getting a kick back...or even grifting Haiti relief, and a dozen other things I'm tired of keeping track of.

All of that is disgusting and worthy of actual anger. This is just cringe-worthy.

RFK Jr. is pro-safety and pro-choice when it comes to medical interventions. He’s repeatedly said he doesn’t want to ban vaccines but wants more transparency, rigorous testing, and better data on their safety and efficacy. What is wrong with that? mRNA is potentially very dangerous and peer-reviewed papers have shown there is ample reason to be concerned with their use without further data.

Respectfully, I don’t think you read the articles I provided links for above.

If you did, well then we definitely disagree.

And the continued business of developing real estate globally? Is that also grift? It is all out in the open for all to see. The value determined by the market.

Is Obama cashing in on fame grift also?

At least this guy was wildly successful and very wealthy PRIOR to public service.

None of these businesses are designed to quid pro quo policy. Unlike Biden’s crystal clear pay for play Ukraine “business”.

Side note: Musk net worth is off 30 percent since Trump was inaugurated. He’s so conflicted.

I didn't, as I was merely discussing the "Trump Watch". But, on the surface...is this any different than other fund raising dinners? I couldn't read your full article, as I'm apparently out of free ones ;)

As far as crypto goes: I'm not a fan of it for a ton of reasons. If Trump or his family is breaking the law, throw the book at him. But, if people are choosing to invest in something, that's on them.

Science doesn’t matter to Republicans - if their leader says science bad, they eat it up.

My favorite “science” was the building of “outdoor” totally closed in bubbles on the street outside NYC restaurants so folks could eat “outside” (next to dozens of others in the same space) to protect them from the ‘Vid. And the funneling of everyone inside tight little spaces to wait for their table in the “outdoor” bubble. At least we had masks on in the waiting area. And most importantly, we avoided the super open / high ceiling / plenty of airflow regular dining areas. Science told us that was bad.

“science” has only themselves to blame for a lot of folks skepticism.

It’s a complete disgrace. Guy is in it to make money for himself and his family. If he helps the country, it’s incidental.

Still better than Kamala.

Also, after reading the crypto article further, I see several potential issues:

  • The article implies a connection between Sun’s investment and the SEC’s decision without evidence.
  • It leans heavily on quotes from critics with no supporting data
  • It primarily quotes critics of Trump, Sun, or the SEC’s actions while providing little balance or viewpoint
  • It implicitly presents a binary choice: either the SEC’s pause is due to political pressure from Trump, or Sun is getting off lightly for no justifiable reason.
  • It uses vague or ambiguous language when discussing critical points
  • It extrapolates from the Sun case to suggest a systemic trend of corruption and regulatory rollback under Trump, but it doesn’t provide any data to support it
  • It notes the pause came after Sun’s $75 million investment but doesn’t clarify if similar pauses occurred before Trump’s administration or in unrelated cases.

Critical reading is my Lava Superpower, yo. ;)

This is a demonstrably stupid point. Do we really need to get into a tit-for-tat of the progressive left wielding "science" like a weapon, damn the evidence? Give me a break.

Yeah, when I hear “follow the science” I am immediately skeptical. Don’t forget, Fauci is science. LOL

I guess you didn’t watch the interview.
