Larry Williams telling what Dabo thinks about Klubnik:
"Swinney has been very pleased with the growth Klubnik has shown -- figurative and literal -- since the end of last season. Klubnik needed to add weight to his frame to better hold up (and hold onto the ball) amid contact, and he did that. He needed to show better command and poise after coming unglued too often last season, and he did that.
In Swinney's words, and in the words of people we've talked to who have observed the last three weeks of practice, Klubnik has looked a lot better.
But also in Swinney's words: The kid still has to go do it under the lights to prove that he can consistently give this offense the presence it needs. I don't think it's fair for people to throw Klubnik to the scrap heap based on the sample size we've seen. Last year was his first year as the starter, and recent years are full of cases of quarterbacks looking not very good early in their careers only to be sensational toward the end (Stetson Bennett and Bo Nix, anyone?)
Dabo on DJU before 2022 kickoff: “Just confidence, growth and maturity,” the coach said. “Starting since January he’s put the work in on everything he needed to do. He’s physically transformed himself and I think he has mentally as well. Obviously, what I’ve seen every day in practice gives me the most confidence. But as we all know, you’ve got to do it under the lights. That’s what I’m excited to see tonight.”
