out there. WI pretty much followed the blueprint that any program that wants to have a chance to get to the final 4 has to do. Sign good, not necessarily great, players and keep them around to mature and graduate. KY, Duke, NC, KS all have a chance to get the one and dones but realistically except for the occasional blip on the radar UGA and most other universities will not get those so the blueprint that Wisky has is one we seem to be pursuing. I was not a proponent of CMF's hiring and have not been impressed for the most part with what he has put on the floor. However, I think the bar is now set that we MUST make the dance on a consistent basis and if he can do that then most realistic fans will accept him.
Maybe some of you (probably) will consider that settling BUT I don't. I want to shoot for the stars BUT if we are to ever have a chance to get to the Final 4 doing what we are doing is the only way IMO that it can be done. Maybe that once while player..maybe Brown, maybe not, will fall into place that can put us over the top but that is what it will take.
The jury is continually out on Fox but I actually feel better about where we are today than at anytime since Harrick. As a fan I love basketball even more than football and would like nothing more than for UGA to have a team fitting of my alma mater. Maybe we are building to that. For myself, I could never support a team like KY had. I don't consider it neither fair nor healthy for a university to bring kids in and tell them as Cal does that if you expect to stay 4 years you shouldn't come here. Maybe it is the truth but I think it is an abomination to amateur athletics. Of course it is all moot anyway since we will never be in the running for this type of player.
I look forward to seeing what is in store over the next few years. Go Dawgs!
