I am a coach (basketball/football) in Gwinnett County and have had the opportunity to be around a few potential UGA baseball players who I coach in different sports. 2020 SS Garrett Spikes and 2021 RF Kenny Mallory at Mountain View HS. Garrett is a commit and Kenny is being heavily recruited by UGA and others (Vandy, SC, Bama, etc.).

Garrett is a 3 sport athlete and a 4.0+ GPA kid who is a hard worker. Could be a D1 QB, is a state champion wrestler and bats 3rd, plays SS and pitches in HS. Kid is nearly 6’4, unbelievable arm and hand eye coordination. He gets a bat in everything and hit 6 or 7 HRs, a few of which went well over 400 ft. He will get drafted but values education and I think will be a guy who we could see play day 1 of the 2021 season. Could play corner OF if need be but is recruited as a 3rd baseman. Stricklin, Kenny and Daeley have all taken turns showing up to school and a lot of practices and games. Both recruits speak really highly of the current UGA players (a big assist on recruiting), and love the academic aspect of UGA as high academic guys. I’m excited to get another year in HS with him but really excited to see him in Athens.

Kenny Mallory is the leadoff hitter, RF and a starting pitcher. He was the 2nd player in school history to hit over 400 and did so this year as a sophomore playing a tough schedule. Kid is a great contact hitter with good pop (5 HR) who hits a line drive just about every at bat. Another really smart, dual threat (basketball) kid who is so fun to watch. Hearing good things about UGA surging ahead of Vanderbilt (who is recruiting him hard) to land him.

Although baseball isn’t my primary sport, I watch every UGA game and really enjoy it. I also made it to 8 or 9 MVHS games and more than do my part talking up the great qualities of UGA with these guys. We talk UGA baseball constantly. As a UGA grad I would love to see these guys in Athens and I think fans will too. Great to get kids from the area, so much high D1 talent in Gwinnett County, much less GA. Just wanted to pass along what little I know. I love checking this forum and watching baseball, thank you to everyone, staff and subscribers who contribute. Best site out there for UGA baseball.
