Commissioner Sankey will be speaking at 11:30, followed by LSU, Ole Miss and Mizzou

Will post updates throughout....Football is officially here, folks.

Greg Sankey:

...Gives props to Georgia for winning the national title.

...Sankey told coaches in Destin it will never be the same but it doesn't have to be the way that it is....told coaches finger pointing is not what's needed; cooperation is.

...Sankey says SEC is strongest than it's ever been in its history....Said there is no panic in the SEC or worried about decisions of others (referring to changes in other leagues).

...Sankey said the football scheduling model is still under consideration....However, he said the focus is on a single division model to accommodate an 8- or 9-game conference schedule.

...On NIL, Sankey mentioned that some states have pulled away from their NIL laws because they were not working in their favor. Said this was the league's biggest fear. Stressed the need for a one-rule, enforceable standard for all states when it comes to NIL.

...Asked about when Texas and Oklahoma will join the league, Greg Sankey said (paraphrasing) That's not up to me. Said that's up to the Big 12. Said the SEC is still focused on 2025.

...Sankey was asked if the SEC is interested in expanding past 16 teams....Sankey said league does not feel pressure to go beyond the 16 but added "We're attentive. We're engaged in conversation."

...Sankey was asked if all teams in the league were abiding by the spirit of NIL...said said "The question is, are they following the laws of their state.

LSU coach Brian Kelly

...Kelly said he feels much better about the depth at his quarterback position.

...Said the offensive line "Is something we need to keep our eye on."

...Kelly said he feels what his school is doing regarding NIL is on par with anybody.

...Kelly was asked if he thought Notre Dame would join a conference....As expected, he feigned a straight answer, but did say "Notre Dame is a coveted University" as far as somebody who might want them ... Notre Dame can carry itself very well."

...Kelly asked to give his best Southern accent ... Said it's no longer "FA-ma-lee"

... Kelly was asked how much Notre Dame's lopsided losses to Alabama played in his decision to come to LSU. ... His answer, of course not.

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin

...Kiffin off to a fast start after an "Alabama question and trick plays ... "Like Kirby Smart said, sometimes you get up here and just talk about Alabama."

...Kiffin said he likes what Deion Sanders has done at Jackson State and said it would be "exciting" to play them.

..Kiffin, said if we're going to live in an NIL role, it needs to be capped.

Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwich

...Drinkwich: "Just to let you know, I'm not old man Simpson yelling at the clouds." ....referring to any changes he wants within NIL.

...Drinkwich said Mizzou brought in 19 transfers

...Drinkwich on touted freshman WR Luther Burden: "He just needs to be the best version of himself."

...Drinkwich on Georgia's Brock Bowers, Darnell Washington and Arik Gilbert and how they will be utilized: "Todd Monken is probably the best coach for that position."
