Really very little to feel encouraged about with our pitching as a whole. We can gripe about how South Carolina is a “bad matchup.” What they are is a barometer that is showing us right away what we look like vs an elite type team—not looking like we belong.
Usually never as good as it seems or as bad as it seems. But looking at the schedule I do not see many series wins for us. Pitching inconsistencies & some big holes both in the back end of the rotation & lack of a definitive closer are hallmarks of middling to bad teams at the MLB level. Behind our top 2 starters we don’t have much & those guys are prone to ups & downs.
From where I sit right now this is looking like it’s going to be a wasted season, on the way to what hopefully is a coaching change.
