Malik Beasley has announced that he's leaving FSU after only one year for the NBA. I thought he'd wait another year. The link below leads to his seasonal shot chart showing his shooting skills and hot areas on the court. Surprising to see that he is almost 10% better from the right baseline corner 3-point spot than from the identical spot on left side baseline corner. I wonder if that is common?
Early departures like this are why FSU, despite all their excellent recruiting, never accomplishes much. Players leave a year too early. They take a season to develop and leave before the team benefits from the wisdom that only experience brings.
This early departure makes it easier to stomach the disappointment of losing him to FSU. I saw him being the difference in our being a NCAA team or not if he had come to Athens. To know that he likely wouldn't have stayed beyond one year anyway makes it seem less a disappointment.
