So we went to game today and tailgated a bit in parking lot before we went in. That was fun. Wish Georgia baseball could attract more of a tailgate atmosphere in that parking lot. Women’s tennis has just finished up beating Alabama A&M 4-0. We left for game at 1pm and it was a light/medium rain. When we were walking we noticed that all the stands were empty. We realized quickly that the reason why was that EVERYONE was in the concourse. As you all know, the concourse at Foley is not big at all and pretty small. You talk about muggy and HOT.
I’ve never been through a rain/lightning delay at Foley and was wondering why they don’t let you sit out there at your own risk if you choose. I’d think they could maybe print something on ticket that had this as a disclaimer? I tweeted Dash on why they wouldn’t let us in because it SUCKED in that concourse. Everyone was shoulder to shoulder, hot and there were no updates coming our way. People were getting restless. Dash tweeted back and made a good point that if the school can be held financially liable they’re not gonna take chances and I get it. Trust me. It just seems like maybe the university could come up with a little better weather delay plan or something? I don’t know. Maybe there is nothing that can be done...♂️
I just wish maybe they could of posted on social media more updates on when fans could go into stadium to sit? I believe every time a lightning is seen it’s another 30 mins and it automatically resets no matter where you’re at and how close you are to being done with last lightning delay. I would of liked to see them tweet or something on Ga Baseball’s officials twitter account where we were timing wise with letting fans get to seats. They did post when the GAME would start like they tweeted that it wouldn’t start till atleast 3 but we never got updates on when we would be allowed to sit in stadium. I don’t know...maybe this all sounds stupid and I’m like a little kid whining and if it does, I apologize.
We left around 2:30 when they still weren’t letting people in stadium and everyone was still in concourse. People were getting restless and starting to yell at each other which was too much for me. The stadium event staff kept trying to tell people to back up under the overhang where the entrance/exit to the concourse is and people were just starting to get upset and spouting back at different people. You could tell it was just people getting pissed having to stand there shoulder to shoulder and hot. Anyways, they did let us get our jerseys even though we had a ticket that said pick up in the second inning so that was nice of them. Just one of those whacky games that happen I guess. As always, Go Dawgs! Get two Sunday!
