I don't begrudge him getting a second chance
but it seems like that chance ought to have been with a lower profile program. Two arrests in a short period of time, one of them being for domestic violence, ought to result in him playing for Memphis, Southern Miss, etc.
Alabama is certainly within their rights to admit him, but I don't see why it made sense for them to take a chance on him. They have more highly rated guys that want to sign with them every year than they have a spot for - he took up a scholarship and a precious annual quota. Both school and player look bad here, and it seems like winding up someplace more humble would have done him some good. Winding up at the premier program in the conference over the past decade and in its history period was a disservice to him.
