Not sure if it will make a difference, but it seems like there is a demonstrable difference in how the players and fanbases of both teams are feeling today. Both teams were favored and on the road against their most hated rival. They win in dramatic fashion on a one-n-a-thousand play, largely because AU was stupid enough to only rush two people and give Milroe all day to find someone. We on the other hand, won by double digits in a game that felt closer.
In the aftermath today, while we're happy with the win and being 12-0, most fans are disappointed in many aspects of how we played. Likewise, when asked earlier today about the team's mindset, @cassiegracesdad replied, "Focused. Ready to get ready for the next game. They were not happy about our play."
Meanwhile, AL's QB was screaming about deserving the Heisman. They seem much happier about their outcome that we are. I can't help but wonder what our mindset would be if the situations were reversed. But more importantly, do they feel like they got a second life, like we did after Ohio State "Ruggled" our game last year? Do they feel like a team of destiny? How will that impact their preparations and thought process heading into our game.
On the other hand, will the bad taste in our mouth lead to an even more intense week of practice and focus because we didn't play to the standard against Tech.
Bottom line, which team is in a better state mentally, and will it really matter once we kick it off?
