Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to take exception to articles with headlines using "Georgia missing on" {insert x-star high school kid who didn't choose Georgia}.
Just like I took exception to Jackson Cantwell saying "Miami recruited me much harder than any other school" (or similar).
Really? Then why take the trip to Athens the weekend before committing, especially if (a) Miami recruited you harder and (b) apparently offered you more money. Or, did (b) only happen because your advisors suggested you take the trip?
In my humble opinion, Georgia has not lost anything when a kid decides to go elsewhere. Georgia is not for every kid, and by what Kirby has indicated, it's changing more rapidly with every passing class, due to players being paid.
Doesn't matter what Georgia would have offered some of these kids, because their agent or advisor is doing all they can so they can make the most now. Case in point, Bear Alexander. Remember what Kirby said about kids that transfer to 3 and 4 schools? Time will tell if Bear made the right long term choice.
Team chemistry is as much about a winning program now as anything else. You'd be hard pressed to convince me, there wasn't chemistry issue on the team last year. Do you sacrifice team chemistry for one or 2 kids, because they want more money?
Besides, you can't really say "Georgia missed on anyone" until they've played several years and it becomes more obvious.
I think we're seeing a different head coach now. Get in driving trouble, get suspended indefinitely from the team. Want to make adult money, they're going to have to accept adult consequences to their actions.
Sorry, I've rambled a bit, but I'd appreciate if the perceptions of Georgia "missing on" could change.
