Missouri...what is going on there?

I've read their list of demands but what was the cause of it?

Was reading up on it via several articles. Been a culmination of things, here's a good timeline and other articles.
http://www.columbiamissourian.com/

I don't know anything about all this, but it seems it's a variety of students, not just blacks, supporting this and football players just became involved this week, although, it's been going on for a while.

From what I read mizzou seems very racist. Sad they are in our conference

Yep, race relations have been terrible in Missouri. It is not really a southern state and did not go through the Civil Rights era the way Alabama, Georgia, and other southern states did.

St. Louis and KC could not be more opposite. Outside of St. Louis, there are no blacks in that state.

A continuation of "Agree with me or you are a racist"...."Aree with me or you are a homophobe"...seemingly much ado about nothing. You have a tiny group saying someone used the N word in a confrontation. Maybe someone did or maybe someone didn't and without knowing the facts and both sides of the confrontation (if one happened) then how do you respond other than to say you won't stand for demonstrated racism or whatever. Then they are stretching to reach for other national political issues like planned parenthood and somehow throwing budget cuts like some sort of insurance subsidy for grad students into the mix. Lookit you have a black protest of some sort or another for some reason or another that kinda, sorta appears to amount to an attention getting exercise. And the president of the school "must resign"...say how about your parent at home lose their job for no reason or better still how about you lose your free ride for no reason. BTW, two black officers shot up the abode of a man and his young daughter in N.O. this weekend and therefore all black people from La are hereby expelled from UM. Does that make sense? Hell no but that is what this sounds like it amounts too. Supposedly a white person said the N word, likely same as 1,000 black students did the same day, so let's demand the white prezzy lose his career. This is in Missouri so it's likely an off shoot of the lunacy surrounding Ferguson, IMO.

Regardless of how you feel, Coach Pinkel has publicly stated he supports the boycotting players. The Mizzou athletic department supports boycotting athletes. So there must be something to it other than lunacy.

Not surprised he would do that simply because he doesn't want to be on the demand to be fired list. And he has to try to coach these guys after all this gets old or settled. His bosses, the president, governor would never let him further stir the pot and turn it into a bigger blackmail mess than it is. The governor is the only person who can mediate this. One of about three things will happen: Governor and board will hold their nose and make a deal with the president, give him a great job, lots of cash and ask, plead, beg him to please take semi-retirement at a hell of a premium to his retirement. Which will then invite copy cat black (supported by radical left students) groups who will blackmail other campuses, even some in the lower south. Or the school and governor will dig in their heels simply because they are right and it is silly. Which will turn this campus into a cause for all the crazed left and their fellow travelers. Or maybe the president will bend over backwards blowing smoke up the rears of the leaders and making all sorts of promises and pizz away a bunch of money hiring minorities and whacko's and funding all sorts of BS "programs"...All sort of a "occupy" thing based upon it being the newest "in" thing to do and boredom plus it creates kind of a party/involvement thing that some of the whacko crowd get off on. This is an attempt to take control of the campus by the black students and activists. They are using black ball players to walk the point. And get after whitey. Part of the prevalent division atmosphere which defines our country. All's I can do is LOL! Rediculous thing is the best taken care of and treated group on campus is leading the whine, the black football players. More lol......Would not be surprised to see the black and trash left students take after the white majority frats and sororities to make them admit their white priv.

And it is for sure that at some point the rad left and black students/athletes are going to black mail the playoff games, SEC, B1G, ACC, P10 championship games and or NCAA tournament by boycotting in order to get a rad and likely minority leadership, professorship and change all the rules like banning certain frats and sororities. The only answer is for NCAA to go way up on entrance req's and change the student athlete culture to a more closer to a normal student level.

Interesting that it is happening at a place where they are losing and disappointed and have obviously given up on the season. Part of the players so called concern, is they don't like the students looking down on them for losing.

The governor is the only person who can mediate this. losing.

Just read where the Gov has issued a statement he's not happy with the President. Read the articles from the MO paper linked above. Several of them, including a timeline which started months ago. This is not a black only issue. Jews, women (including white) and others have issues with the admin. As I said, the players just got involved this week when the other groups talked them into it because maybe their voices would be heard.

I would have guessed a bit lower but I knew they have a long history of being a blues/jazz town. I think it goes back to it being a RR center.

''The rad left'' so anybody willing to fight injustice is a radical lefty ?

Many years ago when I played football the N word was used freely by mostly black players, but by also some of the whites too. Also, heard in the locker room was redneck, honky, cracker, hillbilly etc. We all (both races) laughed and had a good time with it. And after the game or practice we went and had some pizza and beer( if we could find a buyer)together. No pu$$ies or race baiters were on that team. Not so much now.

Great story and the way it should be, imo! Problem is, some use it deliberately to cause trouble.

Also, Pinkel doesn't want to hurt his recruiting efforts. He must side with the players. If these players strike(which is what is threatened) then they're in jeopardy of losing their scholarships. Risky situation for both sides.

Anyone who begins a sentence with "so" is a spinner. A teller of tall tales. And anyone who poses then answers a none existent question, basically asking himself a convenient question in order to offer an unrelated talking point response to an other's statement is a stirrer. One who has no logical disagreement or admits he has no logical response and certainly can't dispute a point made. A basically dishonest person with either bad intentions or a limited intellectual capacity and ability to debate. Many times someone whose formative psyche baggage has left them morally compromised. My question to you would be: "do you disagree with my statement and if so how and why" to give you a path to disagree and offer a viable alternative opinion.

My suspicious mind however believes you deep down know I am speaking the truth and that truth makes you uncomfortable.

Sounds like selective outrage against Jewish marginalization if that is truly a case that they have concerns about . A symbol painted by a druggie crackpot overlaying a swastika on a stairwell. Given the raw and open hatred of Jews by the left on campuses across the country. And particularly in Ca. Where it is dangerous for a Jewish student to admit their heritage or religious leanings. They, Jews, have been smeared, ostracized and outlawed from holding positions of leadership at various public universities there in the last days, weeks and months including UCLA and the U of Cal-Berkeley. By radical left students. So if the rads at UM are now hijacking faux outrage then that is rank dishonesty if they don't in fact condemn first the hate from their leftist cousins in Ca.

I read the so called timeline and fail to see where any justification of outrage toward the president by black football players and a boycott that is called for. Mentions I saw had to do with a symbol overlayed by an admitted druggie toward a group who the left, and many blacks on the left including L. Farrakhan, Rev J Wright have called for the death and destruction of. So that is weak or co-opted. Then a vague mention of the N word which may or may not have happened and if it did the supposed victims give zero details and context. Given their likely wide useage of that word that too is probably a flimsy excuse. Then the president says he has met with and shares the concerns and condemns the actions.
and is working to correct. However the radicals would have him "admit" his complicity due to his race and the color of his skin under the proclivity of priv. That, sir, is no timeline. Feel free to correct me with legit reasons to boycott (other than we are getting our azzes handed to us on the field and just want this season to end), and discriminate against another because of the color of his skin. I patiently await your response. And outrages against women? Missed that as well except for the big time FOOTBALL 5 star who raped and beat the female student before transferring to OU this past year. Where was the boycott based upon that documented outrage on the UM campus from the rad left and the football players. Was it because his black skin and or his membership on the team excused his actions? At least in the eyes of the black football players and their left supporters who are maybe complicit since they failed to speak out.

Problem solved! The MU president resigned. Congratulations to the Mizzou football players for their efforts to effect change.

I think Gary Pinkel is a lot more progressive than you think. After all, he supported Michael Sam when Sam came out as gay.

Possible, but I also think he knows who butters his bread. If he had taken the opposite stance, you better believe every team recruiting against him would have brought that up during the recruitment process. Is that dirty pool, probably, but there are a LOT of recruiters out there that would use that to gain a competitive edge on the recruiting trail. Just my .02

So a man who was not the cause of the turmoil lost his job, because students demanded it so. We have become a nation of pu@#ies, cowering to inferior intellectual arguments. I guess the students now want to choose the president, the inmates are running the prison.

''So'', what your suspicious mind is really about is a distortion of the world to fit your far right, paranoid and dogmatic belief that everything fits into a right is right, left is evil cartoonish perception of life.

I would like to see some of the big money donors withhold a few checks to their beloved university to see how that goes over.

Being in their shoes, I would definitely demand to know why the president was let go over something that may or may not have happened...and if it did happen what is he supposed to have done. Diversity training? LOL. Now watch there be a complaint filed at University's all across the nation each time someone wants to have their ego massaged

A president cannot start responding to every complaint like this that comes in or he won't be doing anything else.

How right you are. Our nation has become a veritable laughing stock. This was/is about zero except how very pitiful and weak our society has become, pizzing down our collective leg rather being tagged a racist (lol), a homophobe (more guffaws) and allowing our selves to be gee hawed by little con artists. I have held out hope that at the end of the day well meaning people of substance would ignore the foolishness and some sense of doing the right thing would carry the day. This one thing personifies the malignant cancer that grips us all. An innocent man is crucified over the coals of injustice. The f--kups are in charge. I despise it that my sweet, dedicated and good to the core children will have to live in this hooterville called America where I enjoyed 70 years of freedom and a chance to be about anything I choose to be. Nothing means nothing.

I looked it up. In the KC SMSA blacks account for 12% of the population. If you limit your search to the city proper the percentage is higher, which is not unusual.

Here's something interesting. Look at the list I linked above. Here it is again for your convenience.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...areas_with_large_African-American_populations

Note how certain, very liberal cities have extremely low black populations. E.g., LA, SF, Minneapolis, Seattle, Boston, SD and a few others. These are the places that typically look down their collective noses at the South when it comes to racial matters. Yet, their lack of diversity is quite interesting if not alarming. Who are they to tell us how to live with our neighbors?

The south is typically more generous with charitable contributions than the bleeding heart northerners also. It is easy to be generous with someone else's money. I get sick and tired of the pseudo-intellectual liberal northerners proclaiming themselves superior in all things. They are misinformed, ne'er do wells that believe their opinions are wanted by those that do not care or care to hear from them. Yes mr. kerry this includes your kind.

LOL Really? Who was responsible for establishing Morehouse? Spellman? Paine? Tuskegee? Hampton? Who donated millions to build Rosenwald Schools all over the South? It damn sure wasn't white southerners. They only half-heartedly built country schools for poor whites.

Every one of the examples cited above were institutions founded and funded by white northerners. You really should read a real history of the post-Civil War south, because you show a real lack of knowledge.

I am talking about in my lifetime not when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. The south is hands down the biggest contributor to charitable causes while the north claims how gracious they are with taxpayers contributions. Did I mention funding black colleges as part of my examples, pay attention jr.

Speaking of charity...southern states are all "takers" when it comes to the difference between the taxes they pay and the Federal funding they receive. Northern states are overwhelmingly "makers" when you compare the taxes they pay and the Federal funds they get.

You really don't know what you're talking about.

I am talking about private charity donations, not money taken at the end of a gun by the federal government and its stormtroopers.
If we could get rid of the welfare masses the low lifes would not be taking as much government titty money. I would rather starve than to take one cent of money I have not earned,to bad the liberals do not have that same view. We could be a much better society without carrying the dead weight around.

Then you're only reading the propoganda. Just a couple years ago they got a gold star for diversity and "inclusion" WTF that means??

These are nothing more than made up BS. Yea a guy in a truck with a rebel flags called the STUDENT BODY Pres a "N" word....Yea sure they did....The Student body president is BLACK. And someone put a NAZI symbol on a wall is shit? Yea sure,...and how's that racist towards black ppl? And how does any of it have to do with the College Prez?

Just liberals being liberals. Look at the link I posted in the other thread. These ppl are just more radical leftist....the only good news is they're turning on the very ppl that created them...other liberals.

Yet all the growth the last 7 years has been in the South? Oops..
