Just wrapped up a 10-minute interview with Griffin. He left Athens this afternoon after arriving yesterday.
Griffin brought his grandmother to campus with him for the first time. Family is very important to him and he wanted her to “experience what I experience” in Athens as far as the vibe and getting around the people.
Today’s basketball game against Tennessee also made quite an impression. This was Griffin’s first collegiate basketball game and he witnessed a great environment while hanging out with Kirby Smart.
Smart had a message this morning that stuck with Griffin. He told the 2025 recruits and their parents that UGA wants them in Athens to help get back to championship level. However, Smart noted that if the recruits had other options in mind, then so does Georgia. If a recruit doesn’t want to be in Athens and work, then he shouldn’t come. As a guy who is willing and excited to work his way up the collegiate ladder, Griffin loved that.
More to come in a story in the coming days. Back to vacation!
