He was damn good in The Belk Bowl. He is loved and respected by just about everybody and I trust him to tell Richt exactly what he thinks, in a positive way of course.

Richt could then look for the very best coach for our QBs. He could be more dedicated to that all important task.
I'm not against using a hybrid scheme like We did with Bobo, of course it would continue to evolve as it did under Mike.
Any football fans here ? The race war can wait long enough to post an opinion or 2 on our team.

Agreed. Charlie Strong had to do it at Texas this season.

That's what I was thinking last week when all H broke loose. Then move Tracy Rocker to DC. That is assuming CMR gets to stay and the other 2 have to go. Verdict's probably still out on that.

You'd get a round of amen's from the SEC east clubs and Auburn on moving Rocker to DC.

Not sure coach Lilly is best choice with today's racially charged campus's

I don't think Rocker is a DC, We will likely keep Pruitt unless Richt is fired. In fact Richt said just yesterday when asked on a radio program that he intends on having Pruitt as DC next season. Of course Rocker is a hell of a position coach so he will be here if Richt and Pruitt have their way.

Now those are top of the line coordinators - neither have ever been coordinators - more defeated Uga penny pinching - but with cmr in charge those 2 might be all he could get

Bobo plan the belk bowl..Lilly just had to execute it...

Lilly called the game, that is where we are weakest right now. He also oversaw the daily preparations leading up to the game. We are very weak in that department as well with Schotty.

Lilly wouldn't be about saving money, I think he showed enough last year to get the nod, unless there's a top OC who is running a hybrid offense like Bobo had, I don't see any who would take the job.

Showed enough doing what ? Calling plays off of bobo and cmr's game plan with cmr on the headsets with him? Your prob right .,,no good coordinators would be lined up to jump aboard cmr's ship

Bobo's game plan for The Belk Bowl was a rough sketch, like most every GP is. Mostly it's reacting off what the opponent's defense is doing, and how well they're doing it. Compare their result to what the partnership of Schotty and Richt has yielded. There is no comparison. Also play calling is critical, and Schotty has been just awful at it.
Lilly clearly works very well with CMR, that matters more than it would with an iron hand HC like Saban. Richt needs the right people around him. Lilly is also a very good recruiter who works well with other staff members.

I don't think of it that way. My point apparently not made very well, is the entire coaching staff may or may not be back. But if CMR survives and coordinators who don't get along and create chaos among the team, admin, etc. go, the logical conclusion for me is to promote from within. That would bring a continuity, calmness, keep recruits (hopefully), etc. Besides, with CMR on hot seat, who would want to come and jump in THAT fire?

And while neither have coordinator experience (Rocker does, just not on this level), CMR brought a lot of unheard ofs when he came in 2001. And they won 2 SEC champs.

you do realize we had chubb during the belk bowl and if we had chubb now , we would still not by any means be an offensive juggernaut but we would be much better on offense - hey man what ever works for you - your entitled to your opinion - my opinion is that I don't think promoting lilly to oc is the best move but it is in reality probably the only move cmr has left unless he hires somebody from west ga or Valdosta state

Of course Chubb was a huge plus, but We DO have good backs available, it's just that the offense has been too messed up to take advantage of them.

Sony is the only back in the same area code as Chubb - the other 2 are serviceable

Marshall of course has not been the same back since coming back from knee surgery, but He showed the determination he had been missing in last week's game. Douglas is a very good second option as well. We also have a couple of very good FBs.
I think the biggest issues are play calling and execution of blocking assignments.

they wouldn't be 2nd string on any other team in the sec - who are the very good fullbacks? the one kid got hurt - Hicks is a manchild who I guess cant figure out who to block?

Marshall is still better than most second team backs in The SEC and Douglas has proved what he's capable of with good blocking. I know Hicks is not a very reliable blocker, but as a runner he's good.

Well ....with that many weapons ...we must have the worst offensive coaches in America

They mentioned only 10 teams are worse than us in 3rd down conversion %. That means about 110. Today against Auburn we look decent at least on 3rd down. I haven't seen our red zone #'s either. Still this is a really bad offensive team.

I think it's more like 118 teams better than Us. Schotty is a GD train wreck.
