ND Question for Gmail users

I'm trying to sign in to my gmail. When going to 2 Factor Authentication, I get the following:

Check your onn. (provides a nine digit number)​

Google sent a notification to your onn. XXXXXXXXX. Tap Yes on the notification to verify it’s you.

For some reason just getting a text with a six digit code is not an option. Has anyone run into this?
