My FIL owns a 2002 Jaguar, and the oil pan or something cracked last night. It’s leaked oil up and down the road, and I believe it’s bone dry. Mrs. Lumpdawg wants to put some oil in there and drive it to the car shop. I think it needs to be towed.

So, who’s correct? If Mrs. Lumpdawg is correct, can I get away buying cheaper oil (5W-30), or do I have to get the synthetic expensive stuff? Would I need to fill it or can I get away just putting three or so quarts in there? It took about three hours to leak all the way out

Thanks for your help
